Action Alerts: Why We Send Them and Why They Matter

During legislative session, staying informed can be tricky. What bills are hitting where and when? Does this impact my business? Is this bad? Do we like it? What should we do?  As a member of GNDC, you’ve likely received an Action Alert from us. But what exactly are these alerts, and why are they so crucial?

WHAT ARE ACTION ALERTS
Short answer: This is a sound off of the alarm.
Action Alerts are urgent notifications sent to GNDC members when critical legislative or regulatory issues arise that could impact North Dakota’s business community. These alerts provide concise information about the issue at hand, explain its potential implications, choose a side/stance, and, most importantly, ring a clear call to action—typically this is contacting your legislators.

WHY DO WE SEND ACTION ALERTS
Our mission at GNDC is to advocate for policies that promote economic growth and a thriving business climate. Action Alerts are one of the most effective tools we use to ensure that policymakers hear directly from the businesses their decisions impact. When lawmakers receive input from their constituents—especially those who drive economic development—they are better equipped to make informed decisions. The "What's In It For Me" sounds a little different.

IMPORTANCE OF ENGAGEMENT
Action Alerts are only as powerful as the response they generate. Your engagement is key in influencing policy outcomes. When you take a moment to send an email, make a phone call, or share an alert with your network, you amplify the collective voice of North Dakota’s business community. These efforts have helped shape policies on taxation, workforce development, infrastructure, and regulatory matters.

2. Take Action Quickly: Legislative decisions move fast, and timely responses are critical.
